Students may visit the library during class time after they have completed an AR test with me.
1) http://booklamp.org/ Similar to Pandora.com – this matches music lovers to new music, BookLamp helps you find books through a computer-based analysis of written DNA.BookLamp's engine isn't influenced by advertising budgets or popularity bias. Unlike social engines, we don't punish new authors for being new, or ignore them for being unknown. We connect readers to the larger world of books. Kids type in author or book title – then search by “StoryDNA” or “author” or “genre” 2) http://www.yournextread.com/us/ With YourNextRead, you can look up specific titles to get recommendations on similar books. In some cases, the list consists only of titles by the very same author, which completely defeats the purpose, but in other cases it actually does generate an interesting list. Recommendations are also accompanied by Amazon blurbs, reviews and price information, making it easy to purchase a recommended book online 3) http://www.tastekid.com/ Students select “BOOKS” from the available tags, then type in the title of a book s/he likes. It will list many similar titles. Kids click on a title and the author and a summary are revealed.
